Expert Tips for Preparing for a Virtual Modeling Audition

Understanding the Virtual Video Audition AFTER your video resume' introduction is accepted. 

Since there seems to be some confusion between what Pimn accepts vs others...we are sharing this quick up-date while in audition review. 

Following directions is critical in Pimn.

This is to evaluate that you can from the very start...follow specific directions and all potential models auditioning are actually reading what's fully required to not be rejected. 

You will have 3 total chances to submit. If you fail all three, you will be told to retry in 30 days with corrections fixed. Unless you're simply not what Pimn is looking for. 

Included at the end of this update concerning auditioning.... will be types of attire and shoes to wear for your catwalk 360 contour pose audition.

If you are camera/Video shy, you'll need to get over that to continue as Pimn requires a LOT of video model submissions. At least 75% of Pimn model training is via video. 1/10th of your portfolios will be video modeling demo reels that range from 15sec up to 1 min. 

Your video audition replaces the typical digital image submissions. 

It needs to be only what is shown, nothing different. No variation or you will be told to change and re-submit. Moved to back of the audition review line.

This includes a white backdrop or white wall area without any photos on walls, no windows, no plants, no furniture. No pets or sound distractions in video. Such as people talking or dogs barking, kids screaming, etc 

If so, you'll definitely be told to re-submit it with any corrections stated to fix. 

Virtual modeling auditions have become more and more a staple in the fashion and entertainment industry since the internet. 

Whether you're a seasoned model or a newcomer, understanding the dynamics of a virtual audition can give you an edge over the competition.

The shift from traditional in-person auditions to virtual ones means that models need to adapt to new technical presentation skills.

Over 40 Models prior or in it have greatly enjoyed it. Did we mention we also offer fitness training and women's defense? We do. Let alone, international. Not just USA. 

Colors other than black will cause a retake. Holding camera is not acceptable. Having lights in background for audition is not accepted.

Having open toed heels for audition is not accepted. While this sample shows a model that could meet measurements, she would be told to redo her audition.

Height doesn't matter. Weight does matter. 

Hair color must be natural color only. 

PROPER ATTIRE FOR AUDITIONING VIDEO 

The below attire would NOT be acceptable to wear for a Pimn video catwalk, contour 360 audition clothing. Why not?

The top conceals abdominal area. Otherwise, it would be fully acceptable if a short top that shows fully that area. Do not use makeup to cover up any tattoos in audition. 

Close up video of each tattoo needs to be submitted, explaining what image represents for you.

If too many tats that can't be concealed in photo shoots, or you don't wish to use makeup to conceal tats for photo, video shoots, then do not audition. 

Note camera. Wrong position. Needs to be virtically positioned.

Note background. Fully acceptable and ideal. 

Unlike in-person auditions, virtual auditions require you to manage your own environment, lighting, and a tripod camera. A good quality cell phone camera works. Phone is positioned vertically. 

This setting demands more preparation but also offers the flexibility of auditioning from the comfort of your home. Understanding these nuances is crucial for putting your best foot forward. 

Yes, black yoga shorts and short top are acceptable, your abdominal area needs to be seen. Do what you are comfortable in. Whether it's black yoga two piece, black bikini two piece. 

The following heels are not acceptable for auditioning. 

NOTE POSITION OF UMBRELLA LIGHTS.

They need to be outside the video. This would be acceptable for a video review to share to public to network and receive interest to earn off of another potential model or models that see your video review and like what they hear and see. 

Note her heels. Open toed not acceptable for audition. If ankle strap or slip-on, toes need to be closed. 

But I dont feel quite yet fit enough to audition. 

Then start working out and get yourself fit enough to audition. We do not train bbw models.

All models, regardless of fitness level once accepted into Pimn go on a regular fitness routine. No exceptions. No excuses. Either you want it or you don't.

Be honest to yourself. Because your trainer will be. Being a Pimn model means sculpting your best version of YOU you've ever seen. If that's you...then getting motivated is where it happens. Not just reading but taking action. 

The following would be acceptable attire and background. Ideal is shorts. 

Camera is not properly set. Turn virtically.

Camera would be too close to backdrop. Pull it back to be able to step atleast 5 to 6 steps. Towards backdrop, do 360 pose, holding each pose, looking at camera then after full 360, walk back passing camera. 

Pimn models are honest about their body. They are confident enough to admit their areas that need sculpting through fitness.

They are types that can say things like...once I get my mid-section down more inches, I'll look hot Sir.

But I might need some work on my booty or calves too, but I'm OK with that. I'm definitely up for a fitness routine to follow to get myself qualified Sir. 

I can confidently admit my areas that need toning up on. Vs taking any correction of body areas personally.  

Setting Up Your Audition Space

Creating an audition space that mirrors a professional environment is essential. Here are some tips to consider:

• Lighting: Natural light is ideal. Position yourself facing a window, or use softbox lights to eliminate harsh shadows. 
• Background: A clean, uncluttered background ensures that the focus remains on you.
• Camera Setup: Use a high-quality camera or smartphone placed at eye level for the best angle.
• The ideal submission : A home studio backdrop with supporting pole, two tripod poles, white backdrop and two tripod umbrella lights, tripod and cellphone camera.  No wrinkles on backdrop..

Your space should not only look professional but also be free from distractions. Inform anyone in your household about the audition schedule to minimize interruptions.

Make sure all equipment is fully charged and tested before the audition begins. 

No pets or children or other adults should be seen or around during audition for a quiet, distraction free audition. 

Mastering Your Presentation

Your presentation during a virtual audition is crucial. Here are some key elements to focus on:

1. Wardrobe: Attire is two piece black with only black, slip on high heels 3" no block heels. No open toes. 
2. Grooming: Pay attention to hair, makeup, and overall appearance. The camera picks up everything, so attention to detail is essential. Hair needs to be down to show length. 
3. Body Language: Practice your poses and expressions in front of the camera. Confidence and poise can set you apart from other candidates.

Remember, first impressions are lasting, so ensure that your presentation reflects professionalism and enthusiasm. 

White attire is not worn (with audition) with white backdrop. If not for audition, white is acceptable but a black backdrop is best. 

What are they holding? Pimn modeling journey journal. Documents all their shoots. Tips, goals, dates of shoots, etc. 

Technical Considerations

Technical glitches can disrupt your audition, but they are largely preventable with the right preparation. Here are some tips:

• Internet Connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection to avoid lagging or disconnects during the audition.
• Platform Familiarity: Familiarize yourself with the video conferencing platform being used (e.g., Zoom, Skype) to navigate it smoothly.
• Backup Plan: Have a backup device ready in case of technical failures with your primary setup.

By addressing these technical aspects beforehand, you can maintain focus and deliver an impressive audition performance without distractions.

The following would NOT be acceptable attire since her mid-section is concealed. Camera needs to be virtical. Heels shown are acceptable.

Background is perfectly acceptable! 

The Importance of Practice and Feedback

Regular practice is vital for honing your skills. Record yourself during practice sessions to evaluate your performance and identify areas for improvement. 

Practicing not only builds confidence but also helps you become more comfortable in front of the camera, making your virtual presence more impactful.

Acing a virtual modeling audition requires a blend of preparation, very basic technical knowledge, and presentation skills.
