PIMN Standards of the 25 styles we cover & nude or erotic styles that some models like to do
"Understanding the 25 Modeling Styles at PIMN – A Guide for New Models."
Nudity standards & erotica covered at #7 and at the end of this post.
YOU WILL GO THROUGH ALL STYLES BY PRO.
With exception to nude art styles that are optional to you.
1. Fashion/Editorial Modeling
Fashion or editorial modeling is the high-art side of the industry. You pose for magazine spreads, campaigns, and lookbooks in designer clothing. The focus is on storytelling, dramatic poses, and creating striking visual images rather than selling a specific product. It often requires a tall, lean build and strong facial features. Sessions are creative and can appear in publications like Vogue or Elle. This style builds a strong portfolio and opens doors to high-end opportunities.
2. Runway/Catwalk Modeling
Runway modeling involves walking in live fashion shows to showcase designer collections. You need confidence, strong posture, a powerful walk, and the ability to turn and pose gracefully under lights and in front of an audience. Timing, expression, and energy are key. Runway work is fast-paced and exciting, helping you develop presence and stage awareness that transfers to other modeling areas.
3. Commercial Modeling
Commercial modeling is one of the most versatile and accessible styles. You appear in advertisements for everyday products, services, or brands — think billboards, TV spots, websites, or store displays. The goal is to look relatable, friendly, and approachable so consumers connect with the product. It welcomes a wide range of ages, body types, and looks. Many commercial models also work in acting or lifestyle shoots.
4. Catalog Modeling
Catalog modeling focuses on presenting clothing and products clearly for mail-order or online catalogs. You show how garments fit and look in real-life settings. Poses are natural and straightforward so customers can easily imagine wearing the items. This style offers steady work and is less about dramatic expression and more about clean, accurate presentation of the product.
5. E-commerce Modeling
E-commerce modeling is similar to catalog work but tailored for online shopping sites. You model clothes, accessories, or products in studio or lifestyle settings so shoppers can see details and fit. Clear lighting, multiple angles, and consistent posing are important. With the growth of online retail, this style provides regular opportunities and helps build a versatile digital portfolio.
6. Fitness Modeling
Fitness modeling showcases a strong, healthy, toned physique. You pose in athletic wear, sportswear, or supplement campaigns to inspire others toward wellness. It requires dedication to training, nutrition, and maintaining muscle tone or definition. Sessions often highlight energy, strength, and an active lifestyle. This style is empowering and appeals to brands in the health and gym industry.
7. Nude / Implied Nude / Statuesque Modeling
Nude, implied nude, or statuesque modeling is purely artistic and focuses on the beauty and form of the human body. It is not pornography — it is abstract, elegant, and tasteful work used in fine art, figure studies, photography books, or high-concept editorials. Poses emphasize lines, light, shadow, and composition (often in nature or studio settings). Implied nude uses clever angles, draping, or shadows so nudity is suggested rather than explicit. Professional nude modeling builds deep body confidence and artistic awareness.
8. Petite Modeling
Petite modeling is for women 5'4" and under who have proportional features and strong presence. You model clothing and products designed for shorter heights, often in fashion, commercial, or e-commerce work. The emphasis is on style, personality, and making garments look flattering on a smaller frame. This style proves that great modeling is about proportion and confidence, not just height.
We do not do plus size modeling. If that's an issue for you, you're welcome to find another place that does. We don't.
As all models are required to participate in fitness and flexibility training to help enhance their own image for a more sought after look. And this is why. It's nothing against heavier women. It's just not what attracts most interest.
9. Lingerie and Swimwear Modeling
Lingerie and swimwear modeling highlights intimate apparel, bathing suits, and beachwear. You need comfort with your body, good posing skills, and the ability to convey sensuality or freshness. Sessions often take place in studio or outdoor locations. Confidence and professionalism are essential. This style celebrates femininity and is popular in catalogs, campaigns, and editorial features.
10. Promotional Modeling
Promotional (or promo) modeling involves representing brands at events, trade shows, or sampling campaigns. You interact directly with the public, hand out samples, and create positive energy around a product. A friendly personality, good communication skills, and professional appearance matter most. It’s active, social work that can lead to ongoing brand ambassador roles.
11. Lifestyle Modeling
Lifestyle modeling shows people in everyday, relatable situations — cooking, relaxing at home, spending time with family, or enjoying hobbies. The goal is authenticity so viewers connect emotionally with the brand. Natural expressions and real-life settings are key. This style is very popular in commercial advertising and does not require extreme height or dramatic looks.
12. Body-Part Modeling (hands, feet, legs, etc.)
Body-part modeling focuses on specific features such as hands, feet, legs, eyes, or hair. You model jewelry, nail polish, shoes, lotions, or other products that highlight one area. Your features need to be well-proportioned and photogenic in close-up. This niche can provide consistent, well-paid work without requiring full-body modeling.
13. Mature Modeling
Mature modeling features models typically over 40 or 50 up to even 60 ( all must meet approval on images & video ) who bring experience, confidence, and authenticity. You might even appear in campaigns for fashion, beauty, wellness, or lifestyle brands aimed at older audiences. Grey hair, natural lines, and real-life wisdom are often celebrated. This growing field values character and relatability over youth.
14. Bridal Modeling
Bridal modeling showcases wedding gowns, accessories, and related attire. You pose elegantly to highlight the romance and details of bridal wear for magazines, shows, or designer lookbooks. Graceful movement, soft expressions, and the ability to convey joy and elegance are important. It’s a dreamy, specialized style within fashion.
15. Parts/Fit Modeling
Fit modeling (also called parts modeling in some contexts) involves trying on garments so designers and manufacturers can check sizing, fit, and construction before production. You provide feedback on how clothes feel and move. This behind-the-scenes work is steady and does not usually require being photographed for ads.
16. Print Advertising Modeling
Print advertising modeling appears in magazines, billboards, posters, and brochures. You help sell products or ideas through still images if ever selected for such. Versatility in expression and the ability to convey emotion or lifestyle are valuable. This style overlaps with commercial and editorial work and remains a core part of the industry.
17. Television Commercial Modeling
Television commercial modeling involves acting in short TV ads. You may speak lines, show product use, or simply appear naturally while conveying a mood or message. Good camera presence, timing, and the ability to look relatable on video are key. Many commercial models move between print and on-camera work.
18. Freelance Modeling
Freelance modeling means working independently without being exclusively signed to one agency. You find your own jobs, negotiate rates, and build direct relationships with photographers and clients. It offers flexibility and control but requires strong self-marketing and business skills.
19. Influencer-Style Modeling
Influencer-style modeling blends modeling with social media content creation. You create authentic, engaging photos and videos for brands on platforms like Instagram or TikTok. Personality, storytelling, and audience connection are as important as posing. This modern style can lead to long-term brand partnerships.
20. Swimwear/Beach Modeling
Swimwear or beach modeling focuses on bathing suits and resort wear, often shot in sunny, outdoor locations. You need comfort in minimal clothing, good skin tone, and the ability to pose naturally in water or sand. It combines elements of lingerie, fitness, and lifestyle modeling with a fresh, vacation vibe.
21. Glamour Modeling
Glamour modeling emphasizes beauty, sensuality, and allure. Sessions often feature stylish makeup, hair, and lighting to create polished, attractive images. It can overlap with lingerie or beauty work and celebrates femininity and confidence. Professionalism and a positive attitude are essential.
22. Beauty/Facial Focus Modeling
Beauty or facial focus modeling highlights the face, skin, hair, or makeup. Close-up shots are common for cosmetic, skincare, or hair product campaigns. Flawless skin, expressive eyes, and the ability to hold subtle expressions matter most. This style is precise and often used in beauty editorials and advertisements.
23. Athletic/Sports Modeling
Athletic or sports modeling showcases physical fitness and movement in sportswear or active campaigns. You may pose in action shots or demonstrate strength and energy. Prior athletic experience or a toned physique helps. This empowering style appeals to fitness brands and sports apparel companies.
24. Curvy Modeling
Curvy modeling celebrates fuller figures and natural body shapes (typically sizes 10 up to 12). You model fashion, lingerie, swimwear, or commercial campaigns that promote body positivity and inclusivity. Confidence, proportion, and the ability to pose flatteringly are key. This style continues to grow in demand. Curving meaning fit but more busty and wider hips. So your style if this size needs to meet approval. Not all curvy sizes 10 to 12 will qualify. If you WANT TO QUALIFY BUT DON'T CURRENTLY, SIMPLY FIX IT SO YOU CAN VS EXCUSES TO GIVE UP. Or try somewhere else.
25. Versatile/Character Modeling (expressive and relatable looks)
Versatile or character modeling allows you to portray a wide range of emotions, personalities, and everyday characters. You adapt your look and expression for different scenarios — from professional to fun or dramatic. This flexible style is highly valued in commercial, lifestyle, and advertising work because you can “become” many different people on camera.
Why PIMN Does Not Offer Playboy-Style Nude Portfolio Shoots UNLESS ABSOLUTELY PRIVATE if the model is herself wanting to submit to them, that's her call and not for anyone else to judge her decision.
You must put in a special video request for modeling privately this style and it is to be kept confidential and within a private portfolio.
There have been professional business women that had subscriptions to playboy. It's considered differently by everyone.
What a qualified Pimn model wants to shoot privately at home or while in travel... is HER DECISION, but ...with abiding by our required standards to do so.
At PIMN, we proudly support tasteful artistic nude modeling as one of our specialized styles (Nude / Implied Nude / Statuesque Modeling).
This includes elegant, fine-art approaches such as figure studies, body paint, and statuesque poses that celebrate the beauty and form of the human body in a professional, abstract, or artistic context.
However, we draw a clear line and do not offer or support Playboy-style nude portfolio shoots PUBLICALLY STATED. Keep it private. Verbally and image or video wise.
Here’s why we make this distinction:
1. Different Purposes and Professional Standards
Artistic nude modeling focuses on light, shadow, composition, emotion, and the human form as art — similar to classical figure painting or sculpture. Playboy-style shoots, by contrast, are highly sexualized and designed for adult entertainment.
We believe these two categories are fundamentally different in tone, intent, and risk level. Keeping them separate allows us to offer meaningful artistic exploration while protecting the overall professional and empowering environment we seek to expand on.
2. Member Safety and Long-Term Reputation IF PUBLICIZED. You can be suspended for 30 days if you mention such shoots to public or share such images publically.
Even when optional, Playboy-style or centerfold-type nude work carries significantly higher risks, including unwanted attention, image misuse, and potential future regret.
Our priority is to provide a safe space where women can build confidence, skills, and a versatile portfolio without compromising their well-being or future opportunities.
We therefore limit guidance and support to tasteful, artistic nude work only, with strict professional protocols and private portfolios.
3. Clear Boundaries on Sensitive Styles
The same careful approach applies to other potentially sensitive areas, such as bondage-themed modeling:
Clothing must remain on at all times. implied nude is permitted. Full nudity is not permitted.
Only light, implied, and tasteful elements are allowed (for example, simulated restraints used for awareness campaigns against trafficking or kidnapping).
No actual tying, cuffing, or extreme elements are ever approved.
Every concept must be pre-approved by your trainer or mentor.
All sensitive or artistic nude work is kept strictly private and accessible only to you, your trainer, mentor, and manager.
Our Promise to You
We allow artistic nude modeling because we see its value for body confidence and creative expression when done professionally and tastefully.
At the same time, we deliberately exclude ANY PUBLIC DISPLAY OR EXPRESSED VERBAL Playboy-style or more explicit commercial adult content to keep PIMN a safe, focused, and empowering program for every woman.
ITS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY. NOT RELATED TO THE QUALITY OF THE MAGAZINE BUT RATHER, THE NUDITY ITSELF TO ATTRACT THE WRONG ATTENTION.
