The Role of Communication in Model Training

Effective communication is the cornerstone of successful model training, ensuring that all team members are on the same page and that objectives are clearly understood.

Whether it's communicating the goals, expectations, or feedback, having a structured approach to communication can significantly enhance the training process.

Good communication etiquette fosters a collaborative environment that can drive innovation and efficiency.

In model training, it's essential to recognize the nuances of interactions among team and in working with others online or in person. Other model members. But most especially, trainer, mentor, managers.

Yes, the art of modeling is FAR ( if a truly professional model ) deeper and in-depth than simply looking good and posing in front of a camera or building a portfolio!

It's meant to be a career. You'll get out of it the effort you put into it. Are you getting high paid modeling offers? If not, chances are...you're doing it just for fun alone.

Any half attractive woman can dress up and pose in front of a camera.  But, not any woman can become professional enough to earn a 6 fig income off modeling.

We'll get into how avg models stack up to a Pimn Pro model in next blog post. Just how far ahead of the game they are than the avg model.

We will cover the list of how much so as we go if you are following this blog.

Even still, this blog reading is only a small % of it. Its not just about communication and learning more but it's applying it, becoming it. Remembering it, sharing it, earning because of it.

Back to communication methods...

Misunderstandings can lead to errors in the training process, which may result in suboptimal model performance. In pro modeling, one lack of communication can delay a shoot or cause greater issues!

By emphasizing clear and respectful, polite, prompt, reliable communication, models and trainers, managers can mitigate these risks and ensure that everyone is aligned with the training objectives.

These are areas some models never take seriously, whether amateur or pro. Pimn Pro models are types that are WILLING TO CHOOSE to take seriously, regardless who else doesn't.

They see and understand the WHY reasons that others tend to put their nose up to or scoff at and who feel its too much effort.

Put the finger up to other models, no, that way, to the lips...if they talk down to you about Pimn methods, yet...have NEVER experienced it for themselves. Because they will only be assuming.

And assumptions aren't facts.

There will even be some "claimed to be experienced models" that don't know half of what Pimn teaches. How do we know this? Because we have seen it. Seen over and over of models claiming to be experienced yet, their communication etiquette is horrendous. Their portfolios are head shaking moments with a sigh.

Their arrogance off the scale. Yet, they needed help but because of their own pride, we're not willing to take the invite for help.

That's not their fault. Or is it? Maybe it is. Ego can prevent growth..The best models are always open to improving.

Did they never go to a modeling school? If they ever complain about Pimn, ask them, have you been to modeling school?

If they have, then they likely only went for runway modeling. Pimn isn't just for runway. In fact, runway modeling is the least of our interest.

We will explain why later, in a future post. Nothing personal against runway models! They work very hard! It's just not Pimn's focus.

Establishing Clear Guidelines

One of the first steps in fostering effective communication is establishing clear guidelines.

These guidelines should include protocols for different types of communication, such as meetings, emails, or instant messaging.

Pimn's type communication standards means team members and models alike will know what to expect and how to interact with one another effectively.

It is also important to determine the preferred communication channels for various types of information.

For instance, using emails for detailed documentation and instant messaging for quick updates can streamline the flow of information and reduce confusion.

Establishing these guidelines helps in maintaining a consistent communication flow throughout the model training process.

It takes literally only seconds to less than a minute to answer an email or msg. To claim one is too busy to answer within a minute of their day means they don't care.

Or are unwilling to follow direction and models especially must be the types to be able to follow direction. Especially while in training for real world, high paid opportunities.

Why? ONE miscommunication can lead to a rejected offer. Just one minute later than another model can mean YOU LOST IT. SHE GOT IT over YOU. That could mean the difference of an extra 2, 3, 4. 5k a month or more.

That's why.

"Oh gawd, I was cooking and didn't answer my manager. I can't believe I just missed a 5k a month modeling offer over a cake and putting him off even for only 15 min!. The Director's blog was right."

In the fast paced industry of modeling, big brand managers may not have an hour to wait for your reply, let alone, hours, days, weeks to respond. Earliest bird gets the worm.

Imagine a high paid, deadline shoot and they have 24 hrs to shoot it. The model gets suddenly sick and has to leave, throwing up. She's got a serious case of flu.

They need an immediate fill in. But all their crew was exposed. They need a Pimn virtual pro model to fill the gap!

They contact the director asking for any available models!? We need an answer ASAP. We have contacted 5 other agencies.

We will go with first response that fits the look we need! Please respond ASAP! This shoot pays models 8k for daily shoots 5 days a week for a month.

But..... you....are not answering.  Not only making yourself look bad as a potential future model but also making Pimn look bad.

Quickest way to get a temp suspension from Pimn is to complain you're busy and or project to a manager, trainer, mentor, director, admin that your schedule is more important than theirs. Vacation or not.

You may be wanted or needed even while on vacation.

While you aren't actively modeling on a break or vacation, you may have someone that contacted Pimn that is interested in you. If you're too busy to answer, you'll quickly lose out.  It's considered in Pimn as unreliable.

Any delays you took to reply, expect same amount of delay in return once you DO reply back. Unless an emergency situation with you or family. If so...don't lie.

While some may take this as a power head game. No, it's not. It's training you to be very reliable and responsive and available 24/7. As Pimn requires...and as other models have been doing. Understanding the WHY.

If that's going to be a problem for you, don't audition for Pimn Pro modeling. If you have any communication lack, you'll be reminded to fix it. Scored and you'll be tested until you can get yourself consistent in standard.

Developing you are tough skin. You may need it later if you don't already have it.

Your trainer, manager, mentor will not chase after you. If unresponsive....it's up to you to contact to inform why. Do not play communication head games in Pimn training.

Yes, we want you to enjoy Pimn, but also we need YOU to take it seriously too. Pimn dedicates...a lot of time on every model so we take YOU seriously. So take Pimn seriously..

Being good at modeling doesn't mean you can't or won't enjoy it. We have had multiple models claim they LOVE IT! They love the challenge! They miss it!

No, its not for everyone.

Only the smartest, most motivated and passionate of models or potential models will love it. Meet the challenges.

Yes, you did hear me correctly. Only the smartest will pass Pimn as a pro model. Certified. Sealed and proud of your accomplishment. IF YOU MAKE IT TO PRO.

Businesswoman holding a clock

While in training, you get many chances to fix it....once at intermediate level, you need to know better. BE ON TIME WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAY YOU WILL DO.

Your msgs will be deleted if you delay too long to answer.  You'll not see it. If that happens, it means you delayed too long. To re see it, you'll need to give an explaination why you didnt reply. An apology and then fix it. Don't keep doing it.

Stick to standards is all it takes. You will mess up. Your score will drop, your score will raise. Don't stress. It's part of the process of becoming your best.

We do this to HELP YOU. To GET YOU INTO REAL WORLD HABITS OF PRO MODELS. To break your bad habits.

If that's not something you can learn, you aren't pro Pimn model material. Find another school or agency. We have our guidelines. You in training will be expected to follow it.

This is why Pimn must be a personal choice. Like hiring a fitness trainer. If he or she let you slide on training, they would not be a good fitness trainer if they don't PUSH YOU TO EXCELL.

Good job!

I hope that makes sense. Not every model can handle the Pimn methods. Only the most serious. If you slack, expect bad scores.

You will be pushed to become YOUR BEST.

Never take it personally. It's not meant to be. If it gets too much, submit a video for requesting a break. It will be granted. Your msgs will slow down but not stop.

Unless you request that from your trainer. If they say OK, can do. Do not keep msging. That stop request goes for you too. Until you reply with a return video statement to trainer that you wish to return. Be sure to use proper etiquette in doing either.

This is why Pimn stresses highly within the first weeks starting out, you clearly understand what you are training into. And if you can't keep up, you'll not be kept to continue.

That choice is yours. Pimn tests your response ability, your reliability, your consistency, your ability to be able to understand why Pimn's goal is to get you to a level of 24/7 fast responder.

As covered before, this is being repeated for very good reason.

It's the #1 skill set to get down. Pro models are able to 24/7 answer every email, every msg within the moments it comes to you.

The Importance of Feedback

Feedback is a critical component of communication etiquette in model training. Constructive feedback helps identify areas for improvement and reinforces positive practices.

It is vital to create an environment where team members feel comfortable providing and receiving feedback without fear of criticism.

We solve every problem in our meetings

When giving feedback, it is crucial to be specific and objective. Focus on the issue at hand rather than personal attributes.

This approach ensures that feedback is perceived as helpful rather than confrontational, thus encouraging open dialogue and continuous improvement.

Active Listening and Its Impact

Another key aspect of communication etiquette is active listening. During discussions or feedback sessions, actively listening to what others are saying demonstrates respect and understanding.

It involves paying full attention, acknowledging the speaker's message, and responding thoughtfully.

Active listening can lead to better decision-making and problem-solving as it ensures that all perspectives are considered.

In model training, this practice can help uncover hidden insights or innovative solutions that might otherwise be overlooked.

Fostering a Collaborative Environment

Encouraging collaboration is essential for successful model training. When team members communicate effectively and respect each other's contributions, it fosters a sense of unity and shared purpose.

This collaborative spirit can drive creativity and lead to more robust models.

One way to foster collaboration is by promoting an inclusive culture where diverse opinions are valued.

Encouraging team members from different backgrounds and expertise levels to share their views can enrich discussions and lead to breakthrough ideas in model development.

The Long-Term Benefits

Practicing good communication etiquette in model training has long-term benefits for both individuals and organizations.

It builds trust among team members, enhances productivity, and contributes to a positive workplace culture.

Moreover, strong communication skills developed during training can be applied to other areas of work, leading to overall career growth.

In conclusion, prioritizing communication etiquette in model training not only improves the immediate outcomes but also lays the foundation for ongoing success.

By establishing clear guidelines, encouraging feedback, practicing active listening, and fostering collaboration, teams can achieve their training goals more efficiently and effectively.
